Well designed option to the Q-Towers and lower clearance
December 24, 2008
I've installed them on a 2007 Honda CRV using a half Q-Tower for the front and Control Tower for the rear. Because it will be used to transport a kayak, the double Q-Tower or double Control tower puts the bars too close together for my long kayak. By using the Q on the front and Control on the rear, the bars are now nearly 48" apart AND they are closer to the roof line when using the Mako and Rollers. I have a low garage opening and the extra clearance, using the Control Towers on the rear saves me from having to remove the rollers before entering the garage. Integrates VERY WELL with Honda's built in roof connectors and saved me from buying Honda's factory rack as well.

Easy to Install

I recently purchased these mounts for my Honda Element. Out of all the racks that I have previously purchased from Yakima, these were the easiest to install. Make sure to buy the landing pads with the towers. You cannot install them on your vehicle without them.
